Herbstpause: I'm taking a break for the autumn

Hello dear readers. I will be taking a break from writing at Jewels in the Jungle this autumn while focusing on some pressing issues, tasks, and new ideas. I intend to keep my diehard readers and colleagues updated on important breaking news and reports about Africa and the world for the duration of this much-needed break. Therefore I will publish periodic mini-posts and list interesting news stories and editorials that I have been reading.

One great thing about writing about Africa today is that when you need a break there are numerous outstanding blog authors, online journalists, and CJ's who can pick up the slack. See you guys down the road in a few months or so, refreshed and ready to go. And as always many thanks for your support, comments, and encouragement over the past 5 years.

Update November 17th:

I lied about keeping my diehard readers up-to-date on important breaking news out of Africa during my 'blogger break' (actually I've just been lazy about composing and writing during this pause).  However, I am updating my list of highly recommended blogs and websites on Africa and African issues to help my loyal readers stay abreast of news and opinions.  Looking forward to returning to the blogosphere and begin writing again in the not-too-distant future.

Enjoy your well-deserved break, my dear friend.
I took the liberty of "echoeing" your excellent post on the NYT magazine special issue on African Women's empowerment. Thanks for it!

Thank you Koluki. You know that you are always welcome to crosspost and echo information that I publish here. Hoping that all is well with you down in South Africa. Be well.
