Update for May 20th

I have been dealing with a virus infection for the past three weeks that has left me incapable of writing and publishing to the blog. Fortunately the illness can be treated with medication and I am hoping for a full recovery within the next week or so. I am anxious to interact with my regular readers and visitors on a variety of news events and international issues that have transpired during my absence from the Sphere.

The tragic loss of life and property affecting millions of people in China and Burma has not only captured the world's attention but has also captured our hearts and sympathies. I am especially concerned about the inability of international disaster recovery teams to provide urgent assistance to the millions of destitute, desperate storm survivors in Burma. We can only hope and pray that the military junta that has ruled over this country for 46 years will be persuaded by their ASEAN neighbors and international institutions and governments to allow assistance to reach the people of the Irrawaddy Delta and Rangoon before it is too late.

Wow. I have to first say that I am sorry you have an infection, and I hope all goes wellf or you. Second, I know you don't know me. So let me introduce myself. Ha. I am an American girl that is going to Germany to be an Au Pair next month; I am obsessed with politics, news and most importantly Africa. I want to work for UNICEF one day. I just started a new blog, aupairnicole.blogspot.com, and was looking for others that were writing about Africa after writing about the Ethiopian crises on my blog today. I found your blog, and have to say I am impressed. I love it. I will definitely be subscribing to your blog and hoping you get better! Thanks for the good reads.

Thanks for your visit Nicole and for your well wishes re: my health. Slowly but surely I am getting better and hope that the virus infection will have run its course soon.

I won't be writing and publishing for several more days but in the meantime please pay a visit to my blogroll. There you will find a number of top blog authors who write about African news and issues.

Good luck with your work experience in Germany and with your new blog project.
